BQ27Z746: Protector Calibration in the production line

Part Number: BQ27Z746
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Checked this E2E thread, we know the customer should have two ways to do the OVP/UVP/OCC/OCD/SCD calibration in the production line.

Method-1). To calibrate each gauge in production with a reference voltage for high accuracy

Method-2). To use the protector tuning function for lower accuracy but can just write to the register in production instead of needing a reference voltage

Based on the above two ways, my customer has some questions that need your comment below:

For Method-1), do we have a commend/way to access the following "Protector Threshold" page and then enter/write the raw IVT values in the Applied Voltage and then execute the OVP/UVP/OCC/OCD/SCD calibration by their equipment(MCU)?

For Method-2). do we have a commend/way to access the following "Protector Tuning" page and then enter/write the raw IVT values in the Target and then execute the OVP/UVP/OCC/OCD/SCD calibration by their equipment(MCU)?

  • Hello,

I am not sure that I fully understand your question here, but when going into production using the protector tuning method, you can just use bqStudio to calibrate the protections on one device. You can then read these values from the device (ProtectorImage1 and ProtectorImage2 in the TRM) and save them on a host. Then in production you can program this saved image onto each gauge in production using a host MCU. This process only applies to the protector tuning method.

    Robert.

  • Hi Robert,

    Thanks for your feedback.

If the customer would like to use the following method-1 without our bqStudio to calibrate each board(PCBA) in their production, is there any way/document that can refer to?

Method-1). To calibrate each gauge in production with a reference voltage for high accuracy

  • Hello,

I do not have any documentation or process that I can provide for the protection calibration process in production for the protector threshold method, only for the protector tuning method.

    Regards,

    Robert.
