Tool/software:
Is there a way to turn off BATFET while the battery is connected?
I would prefer a method other than SHIP FET.
Hi Tomonori,
No. The BATFET's diode from BAT to SYS is also present, hence the need for external shipFET.
Regards,
Jeff
I would like to set to the state only the internal diode (From BAT to VSYS) , to prevent current from flowing from VSYS to BAT.
Is there a way to turn BATFET off?
Hi Tomonori,
No. The BATFET's body diode is always present and cannot be turned off.
Regards,
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I wanted to question that cannot I do that "only the body diode is effective" when the battery is exist above UVLO and no USB?
How about it?
Hi Tomonori,
When in battery only mode (no voltage at VBUS), the charger has a charge pump that drives the BATFET's gate high, turning it on, if battery voltage > battery UVLO.
Regards,
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
Is the only way to turn off BATFET when the battery is above UVLO to connect VBUS and turn off charging [EN_CHG=0, ENport=L]?
Even if VBUS is present, won't BATFET be turned off if HI-Z or DISACDRV is enabled?
Hi Tomonori,
No. The BATFET turns on full in HiZ mode (either auto HiZ from when VBUS<UVLO or EN_HIZ bit=1). DISACDRV has no effect on the BATFET.
EN_CHG =0 turns off current flow from SYS to BAT, i.e. charging but not discharging from BAT to SYS.

Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I undestood that When the VBUS is present and EN_CHG=0 turns off current flow from SYS to BAT.
When the VBUS is NOT present does "EN_CHG =0" turn off current flow from SYS to BAT ?
