TPS65235EVM-747: USB2ANY cannot connected to PC

Dear TI experts,

I am testing TPS65235EVM-747 with USB2ANY interface board.

1. Installed TPS65235EVM GUI.

2. connect PC->USB2ANY->TPS65235EVM-747, and run EVM GUI.

3. I checked "not connected"(red dot) in the bottom left on the screen.

4. So I cannot control anything (reading registers, writing registers) in the GUI.

(Trying to write 1 to Bit 7 of 0x00)

(Trying to read status register)

5. After that I tried to update firmware using "USB2ANY Firmware Loader" and "USB2ANY Software Explorer" and restarted EVM GUI but I still can checked "Not connected" message in the bottom left.

Could you help me to connect PC -> USB2ANY -> TPS65235EVM-747? What is the wrong point?

And here are more questions;

1. I use the PC which OS is Windows 11, and my customer use the PC which OS is Windows 10. Could it be one of the problem?

2. I saw that "The Status for USB Adapter Connection only shows the status for the adapter, not the EVM board." -> So Is it the problem just between PC and USB2ANY? (not the problem of TPS65235EVM-747?)

Hi,

Are you powering the EVM when connecting the USB2ANY?

Please make sure the hardware setup were all finished before software setting.

Thank you for your support.

Yes, I applied power to EVM when connecting USB2ANY.

Also I did all hardware setup regarding to EVM user's guide.

I think that it is not the problem of EVM, it is the problem of USB2ANY because I can always see "Not connected" in the bottom left of the screen.

Is there any way to check the fault of USB2ANY?

Does the LED of USB2ANY lighting like this picture?

Maybe you can use a windows 10 PC and try again.

Yes. I check green LED on when the power is applied.

And I tested it with Windows 11 (my laptop) and Windows 10 (my customer's laptop).

Could you find another reason?

Dear Colin,

I received another new USB2ANY and tested it, the result was same.

And Here are the test results that I tested more.

1. Changed the firmware from old version to new

-> I found E2E thread below and download firmware file, and changed to each firmware and execute TPS65235EVM GUI.

-> But every firmware failed to connect USB2ANY to PC when running TPS65235EVM GUI. (always red lamp in the bottom left of GUI screen.)

2. Trying to run another EVM GUI to make sure that USB2ANY has no problem.

-> I found E2E Thread below, and I check that at least "connected" signal in the bottom left of GUI screen is the same, TPS65235EVM and TPS23880EVM.

-> I downloaded TPS2388X EVM GUI from TI.com and installed it.

-> Right after I run TPS2388X EVM, I saw the message of "require a firmware changes to version 2.7.0.16" even USB2ANY's current firmware is latest (2.8.2.0) as you see the screenshot below.

-> After I change the firmware from 2.8.2.0 to 2.7.0.16, I can see the green lamp in the bottom left of TPS2388X EVM GUI, as you see the screenshot below.

-> Finally I confirm that USB2ANY has no problem, and the lamp in the bottom left of GUI means the connection ONLY between PC and USB2ANY, not PC<->USB2ANY<->EVM.

And Here is my conclusion ;

- TPS65235EVM GUI needs specific firmware version of USB2ANY even USB2ANY's firmware is latest.

(TPS65400EVM GUI needs 1.9.0.0 firmware, and TPS2388X EVM GUI needs 2.7.0.16 firmware, so TPS65235EVM GUI needs specific firmware too.)

- Every EVM GUI should make pop up message like TPS2388X EVM to change USB2ANY's firmware but TPS65235EVM does not make any pop up.

- So I want 2 request for you.

1. Please check "greed lamp" in the bottom left of TPS65235EVM GUI screen on your own PC or laptop.

2. Please check the specific firmware version of USB2ANY to run TPS65235EVM GUI properly.

Your help would be highly appreciated to my customer.

In your answer, there is no information about firmware version of USB2ANY.

Could you check the firmware version of your USB2ANY? As you know, you can check it when you run USB2ANY explorer V2.8.2.0 in the first screen.

I don't find information for firmware version of USB2ANY and just directly install the GUI software, then can connect to USB2ANY automatically.

Dear Colin,

I read your screenshot. I also can find it on User's Guide.

It says that "At start-up, the software first checks the firmware version of the USB-to-GPIO adapter box. If an incorrect firmware version is installed, the software automatically searches on the Internet (if connected) for updates. If a new update is available, the software notifies the user of the update, and downloads and installs the software. Note that after the firmware is updated, the user must disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable between the adapter and PC, as instructed during the install process."

But As I said I cannot find any notify box when I run TPS65235EVM GUI. And the lamp in the bottom left is still red, not green.

That's why I am asking you to check the firmware version of USB2ANY.

Just you install the software below and run the software, you can easily check the firmware version of USB2ANY.
