TPS25750: Source Capabilities

Part Number: TPS25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25751, TPS65987DDK

Tool/software:

Hello TI team,

I am looking for a USB Type-C PD solution. Ideally requiring no host MCU or FW development. My application is 60W or 100W, sourcing power only, no data.

At first I was interested in the TPS25750 for its low 1k price. However, it's not 100% clear to me if this chip actually supports 100W sourcing.

The first page mentions there is a 28V 7A bi-directional power switch. However, later in the datasheet, it seems this switch can only be utilized if paired with a BQ chip?

So my two questions are:

  1. Can I use the TPS25750 for 100W source-only application without a BQ chip?
  2. If not, which IC do you recommend for this application?

Thanks in advance,
