BQ76952: Issue with Heating Resistor in REGIN Path + REG0, REG1, REG2 Configuration Help

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

Hi,

Greetings.

I am working on 12s BMS using BQ76952. Kindly verify the schematics. the R16 is getting heated up which is connected in series with a diode then to a BJT that connects BREG and REGIN. How to configure REG0, REG1 and REG2 for the above schematics? What could be the possible reason. If there are any other suggestions to change in the schematics, mention them too.

Thank you.

  • Hello Praba,

How much current is going through R16 and what is the power rating for the resistor? 1kOhm for R16 seems quite large from what’s typically used.

Section 16.2.2 Detailed Design Procedure in the BQ76952 Datasheet may provide useful suggestions when designing with our part.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
