BQ76940: Replacing with newer generation chipset

Part Number: BQ76940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350, BQ76972, BQ76952, BQ34Z100

Tool/software:

Dear TI.

Here at NxTech we're helping a client design and certify (IEC 62619) a Li-ion battery pack for industrial use.

Their prototype contains the BQ76940/BQ78350 chipset, but we are thinking of upgradnig the harware with a newer generation chipset. In this project accuracy and good control of state-of-charge (battery capacity) is a priority. Which chip's do you propose for a 14S battery pack?

  • Hello Ole,

For newer generation solutions, we recommend to use the BQ76952 or BQ76972 and the BQ34Z100 gauge.

Using these two devices would provide a full gauging, monitoring and protection solution.

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon
