Hi TI,

We have space constraints in the design and hence prefer the EP7 type transformer (XFMR) over EP13. Is it possible to design for 5V 13W with an EP7 XFMR type and an auxiliary power input of 9V to 24V using the TPS23753A? Please share the required modifications in the circuit for the TPS23753AEVM-001.

Regards,

Harsha

  • Hi Harsha,

Thanks for reaching out! Sorry that PoE team is quite busy recently. I will try to get back to you by this week.

  • Hi Harsha,

The power rating for this question is similar to TPS23758 one but TPS23753A cannot do PSR. Similarly,

For off the shelf products EP7 normally only support Class2 (6.5W) or lower power as flyback transformer. Normally its power rating is less than 8W.

May I know what is your target dimension? We used to work with costumed transformer vendor can do ~11x11x14mm, 14m is height, for 25.5W applications. I can help you to connect some transformer vendors if you want.

  • Hi Diang, Thanks for your reply, XFMR Hight max is 9-10mm, but when looked into the LT4276C. seems like with EP7 still possible to achieve 13W, DC2046A-F Evaluation Board | Analog Devices.

But yeah, will come back if I need additional support for the XFMR requirement lesser height. Appreciate e your quick support

  • Hi Harsha,

    Thanks for your reply.

I checked 750313109 that used in DC2046A-F. And yes it looks workable for 11.5W load.

I will close this thread for now and feel free to reply or open a new thread if you have further questions.

    Best regards,
