TPS6594-Q1: nRSTOUT and PMIC suspended on AM69 custom board design

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM69

Tool/software:

Hi TPS6594 champ !

My customer found 2 issues regarding TPS6594 and AM69 based custom board design.

1. PMIC Off issue after 3hours 20mins

I am contacting you because I noticed that all the PMICs power off about 3 hours and 20 minutes after system power up.
Forcing the PMIC enable pin to be adjusted did not resolve the issue, what can I do to prevent this from happening after 3 hours and 20 minutes?

2. nRSTOUT to SOC after 13mins

About 13 minutes after power-on, a LOW signal is output from nRSTOUT of PMIC 25pin and AM69 is reset.
Please tell me how to prevent nRSTOUT from outputting Low after 13 minutes.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jack

  • From your description, the Watchdog of the PMIC is enabled by default. Every 13mins the Watchdog Long Window times out and cause a Warm Reset (short toggle low of nRSTOUT and nRSTOUT_SOC). After 15 Warm Resets, if the recovery counter isn't cleared, the PMIC will power down and stay shutdown until VCCA input is power cycled.

Please tell me how to prevent nRSTOUT from outputting Low after 13 minutes.

To prevent these thing from happening, there are 2 simple software options:

Option 1:  During the first 13 minute window, write 0 to WD_EN bit.

Option 2: During the first 13 minute window, write 1 to the WD_PWRHOLD bit.
