BQ27426: Guidance on how to configure for battery smaller the 100mAh.

Part Number: BQ27426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQ27427, BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get a step by step guide on how to configure the BQ27426 for batteries smaller than 100mAh, I have a EV2400 for the configuration.

I've linked the original post in relation to the BQ27427 but I can see I need to swap to the 26.

Also, stupid question, will the fuel gauge once configured be unable to work with batteries larger than 100mAh?

Thank you for your time!

  • Hello Henry,

Essentially you will need to scale the current on the gauge. This can be done in the calibration section in BQStudio. So for example, you can scale 1000mA current to be 2000mA. Thus, current reading will be twice as large as the true value. If you do this, then you will need to scale all capacity related registers by 2x (for example design capacity). The gauge should still work with a larger than 100mAh but it may not be completely accurate.

    Regards,

    Adrian
