TPS784-Q1: The accurancy fo TPS784-Q1

Part Number: TPS784-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS732-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello expert,

in the following table, it shows output accuracy of TPS784-Q1 is in range of +-1.7%.

While, in section 6.6, the waveforms show all output accuracy values are within 0.5% as its description in 1st page of datasheet.

Is 1.7% the worst cases' values? Here are my customer's requirement, can we achieve them?

  • 5V to 3.3V
  • -40 degree to 125 degree, the output accuracy is kept within 1% for every TPS784-Q1 device.
  • TPS784-Q1 is used to power MCU ADC.

If not, do we have a better accurate device for prromotion?

Best regards,

WENTING

  • Hello Wenting,

Yes, 1.7% is the maximum accuracy across load, line and temperature without resistor tolerance in the adjustable version. From Figure 6-4 on TPS784-Q1 DS we can see that the maximum output accuracy across temperature (-40C to 125C) is ~2.25% therefore, it doesn't meet customer 1% requirement across temperature. An alternative with tighter accuracy is TPS732-Q1 with a 1% accuracy over load, line adn temperature.

  • Hello Eunize,

Thanks for your recommendation and TPS732-Q1 looks like a more suitable solution for the customer.

The max VIN is 6V for TPS732-Q1. May I ask for full temperature testing, is the TPS732-Q1 tested under 5V or 6V?

    Best regards,

    Wenting

  • Hello Wenting,

For TPS732-Q1 the absolute Vin max is 6V and the recommended Vin max is 5.5V. If device used outside the Recommended Operating Conditions but within the Absolute Maximum Ratings, the device may not be fully functional, and this may affect device reliability, functionality, performance, and shorten the device lifetime.

If you are inquiring about the accuracy spec, the test condition is across Vin range (VOUT + 0.5V ≤ VIN ≤ 5.5V). If you are inquiring in regard to qualification test like HTOL, then the device is tested at the recommended max 5.5V.

    Best,

    Eunize Tobias
