TPS22992: Specified Ron not achieved during testing

Part Number: TPS22992

Tool/software:

Hi,

After testing the Eval Board with TPS22992, I have noticed that the TPS22992 does not achieve the specified Ron.
In the data sheet it is specified at 25°C and 3.3V with typ 8.7mR. At 85°C with max 12mR.
But I measure 13mR or 16mR.

What could be the reason for that ?

Best regards,

Dardan

  • Hello Dardan,

There can be slight difference in RDSON.

How are you testing the RDSON? Can you please explain the test methodology?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Mr. Kolukaj kindly made this request for me.

I am using the test setup as described in the TPS22992 Evaluation Module User's Guide section 6.1. I measure the load current and measure the voltage drop at the sense connections TP2 and TP6.

I took a closer look at the PCB layout. I noticed that the sense connections are not connected directly to the pins of U1. You also measure the voltage drop that occurs on the 2 approx. 1.5mm long copper tracks.
With a copper thickness of 35um and a width of 0.25mm, these tracks each have a resistance of 3 mOhm.

I think this explains the deviation of the measured value for Ron.

    Many thanks for your support

    Olaf

  • Thanks Olaf for your explanation.

    Thanks
