TLC59116: TLC59116IPWR

Part Number: TLC59116

Tool/software:

Dear Support,

Our company using since several years part TLC59116IPWR. Shortly we have problems with this part that the LED connected to IC is burned (damaged). Nothing is changed in the design.

The LED we are using is the HSMA-C120. I tried several things and the problem is with a specific batch of this IC. IC marked wit 14KG4 (I think this is the batch (manufacturing)number or is this wrong?) have this problem.

I replaced the IC with a new one with 97KG4 and the problem is solved. Is this a known issue?  Is this number like 14KG4 the manufacturing number? I did not find this at your website or datasheet.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Ron.

  • Hi Ron,

Do you mean that the problem is cased by the same lot IC? And after you change another lot IC, this problem is solved.

  • Hi Jared,

    Thanks for your response.

That's correct. All IC's with lot 14KG4 have this problem. I have PCB's where the 97KG4 and 34KG4 are mounted and these are working fine.

So I was correct that the 14KG4 is batch/lot number?

    Best regards,

    Ron.

  • Hi, Ron

Our expert will reply you next Monday.

  • Hi Ron,

I think we can only do some decap analysis to find if there is any difference between these 2 lot.

The formal process in TI to do decap is to contact the local sales team and they will help to submit the request. Then, our FA team and our team will receive the request to do some test to verify if our IC does have problem.

So, please help to contact local sales team for support.

    BR, Jared
