BQ76952: Low side switching with AFE Control and AFE with BQ76952

Tool/software:

I have implemented Low side switching using DDSG and DCHG as FET driver pins, with BQ76952 AFE. So in this case can FET control during protection can be done through AFE configuration settings like in OTP mode. Or this protection we need to control through a host processor.

We want use AFE as standalone IC for operation.

Hello Divya,

You should be fine to OTP the other protections as long as you have autonomous FET control/recovery allowed, as the part can then recover without a host MCU to clear the fault. You will need a MCU to OTP the settings though. Section 3 OTP Programming in the BQ769x2 Calibration and OTP Programming Guide should help with how to OTP with our part.

The DCHG and DDSG signals on BQ769x2 FAQ we have can help explain the DCHG/DDSG pins more including how to ensure the fastest turn off time when using those pins to drive low-side FETs, if desired. Our Low-Side FETs w/ BQ769x2 application note should also help with the design.
