TPS25982: E-FUSE regulator

Part Number: TPS25982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5818

Tool/software:

 Hi team,

I am facing a issue with the E-FUSE i.eTPS259822LNRGET

When i am trying to do disable the E-FUSE once enabled i am seeing that the E-FUSE is getting shutoff, tried adjusting the ILIM resistor to the maximum value for 14A but still facing the issue, although the sink current is only 6A and tried adjusting the VIMON resistor value, please let me know if there are any mistakes in design

Specifications:

1.Vin=3.6V

2.VUVLO=3V

3.IOUT=6A

4.ILIM=8A

5.Idvdt=20ms

6.N retry=4

7.retry=100ms

  • Hi Akshay,

    Some things are not clear. Can you please clarify them.

    i am seeing that the E-FUSE is getting shutoff,

    What do you mean by this. Do you mean the eFuse is powered off or suspect any other protection state.

    How are you disabling the eFuse.

    Best Regards,
    Arush

  • Hi arush,

    Yes the E-Fuse is cutting of the supply at its output, suspecting overload current should trigger this, but not seeing any surge current happening

  • How are you disabling the eFuse.

    It will be quicker if you can tell me your test setup and procedure with details. I can share example from some other testing.

  • E_FUSE_ISSUE_TI.docx

    Hi Arush,

    i am sharing what else might be reason for the E_FUSE shutdown,

    attaching the things connected with same ground that analog ground of E_FUSE

    So the ADC(i.e AFE5818) is taking all these voltages and the recommonded sequence is 1.2D first and than the 1.8A and 3.3A which are generated by the 3.6A which is coming through the E-FUSE, that sequence is taken care with a opto-isolator

    but the issue we are facing is once we power on the card, it is working fine but if we try to disable the AFE once enabled the 3.6A E-FUSE just turns off, we are suspecting the reason of sequencing because 5V is also taken by ADC and for 5V we have not kept any sequencing, please let us know what can be the issue

  • Hi Akshay,

    Thank you for sharing this.

    From the above, my understanding is your system look something like this.

    The issue is when you are trying to give signal to AFE to turn off, the eFuse itself is turning off.

    Now, is it possible for you to tell me what input you are giving to eFuse which is resulting in no output of eFuse.

    we are suspecting the reason of sequencing because 5V is also taken by ADC and for 5V we have not kept any sequencing, please let us know what can be the issue

    This looks like more related to ADC and related to eFuse. Is your primary issue more related to ADC or eFuse?

    Best Regards,
    Arush
