A follow up question to our previous thread "TPS61158: Re: Parts damaged during production testing (LX and VOUT pins shorted)".
We are wondering why the TPS61158 over voltage protection does not prevent the output voltage from reaching a level that damages the IC, shorting pins VOUT to LX (SW). If you can provide insight into this it would be appreciated.
Here is a waveform showing the output voltage reaching 29V in the errant condition. As mentioned in the forum “an overvoltage condition occurred where VOUT would approach 32V, exceeding the datasheet's 30V absolute max rating and damaging the part.”
