BQ25798: iTERM current accuracy

Part Number: BQ25798

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

we used bq25798, the battery charge cuurent is set to 1.4A and iTERM is set to 200mA. When the (SYS) system load is 1.6A , iTERM  current reaches 50mA and charge done  that  accuracy of  iTERM more than ±14%.

the system load seems to affect accuracy of iTERM current. is right ?  and how to estimate the iTERM accuracy ?

Regards,

  • Hi Yaoyi,

The only ITERM accuracy with PFM disabled that TI warranties is below:

     .

If ICHG register is set below 1A, ITERM accuracy improves because the charger makes the BATFET more resistive and therefore the current sense amplifier is more accurate. Disabling PFM usually helps improve accuracy.  If there are system load transients that are causing frequency supplement events, ITERM accuracy suffers.
