BQ34Z100-R2: Error to Identify Correct Gauge Version (0100_2_2)

Hi, I am trying to implement the so-called "successful learning cycle" and I have come across some problems that I am trying to identify and solve. One issue that I believe is causing the failed learning cycle is that my gauge is not being recognized as the BQ34Z100-R2; it is being recognized as the BQ34Z100-G1 (0100_2_1 as the image show). I have excluded the BQ34Z100-G1 firmware from the config folder and manually selected the BQ34Z100-R2 firmware (0100_2_2) but yet BQStudio just show (0100_2_1). How can I fix it so that the program (BQStudio) recognizes the BQ34Z100-R2 (0100_2_2)? Thanks!

Hello Anon,

Could you attached the image you are referring to, it not showing on my end. Also are you using the BQ34Z100-R2 EVM or do you have the IC on a PCB? If you have the IC on a PCB could you attached a screenshot of the IC with the part number from the schematics to validate the part. In the meantime if you are using the "BQ34Z100EVM" than you are using the "BQ34Z100PW-G1" which is from the BQ34Z100-G1 family and not the BQ34Z100-G1.

I am using:

- PWR111 Rev. B

- bq34z1xxEVM

However, I have placed the BQ34Z100-R2 chip on it.

Hello Anon,

It seems that there is only one supported target for both G1 an R2 within BQstudio. In terms of hardware wise they are the same and it would appear that they use the same firmware. I've also attached "Achieving the successful learning cycle" document that will be useful in completing a learning cycle for your system.
