TUSB1046EVM: DP alt-mode and USB enumeration

Part Number: TUSB1046EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987, , TPS65987D

Tool/software:

On another post, I was told that "the TPS65987 does not do any USB2 enumeration on the D+/D- lines and does nothing with data regarding USB2. The D+/D- connections are there to support the BC1.2 legacy charging scheme. If you do not need to support BC1.2, theses GPIOs do not need to be connected to the D+/D= lines."

On the TUSB1046EVM, the TPS65987D D+/D- are conntected between P1 (micro USB) and P2 (USBC).  I am using the TUSB1046EVM to transmit DisplayPort from P3 to P2 (USBC) without anything connected to P1 in 4 Lane DP - no flip configuration.  In my design if I remove the D+/D- from the TPS65987D, then how is USB enumarted for DP alt-mode since there are no other D+/D- on the TUSB1046EVM that is connected.  Do I not need a USB 2.0 interface for DP alt-mode to work?  Is everything configured on the CC lines for DP alt-mode?
