TPS25751: VBUS and VBUS_IN Tie together

Part Number: TPS25751
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25798, TPS25750

Tool/software:

We are developing a sink only (for now) application but we need clarity on TPS25751's following pins:

PP5V: Can we grounded as we are not using it? does it still need to be decoupled?
VBUS: what does it connect to if PP5V is not providing it voltage/current to power LDO's (like LDO_3V3 and LDO 1v5)? can we tie it to VBUS_IN? If we tie it to VBUS_IN what will happen when PD negotiates a 20v input?

VIN_3V3: Can we ground it? does it still need to be decoupled?

Thanks for any help clarifying this!

FYI, we are using BQ25798

  • Hi Evelio,

    Thank you for reaching out!

See the following FAQ on how to design a sink-only PD with the TPS25750 (no longer recommended for new designs) but is pin-to-pin with the TPS25751.

Please let me know if you have further questions/concerns.

    Best Regards,
