TPS51604: TPS51604 unresponsive - need a correct starting sequence

Dear TI support team,

We have big trouble in using the TPS51604. Sometimes the chip does not respond after a power cycle. We are experiencing a similar issue to what's described in the following threads:

We have tried all tips in these threads (starting in every power mode possible), but the problem is still there...

Could you please provide the exact power-up and configuration time sequence on each pin (VDD, SKIP, PWM, ...) to start correctly the TPS51604 ? maybe a piece of code ?

Dear Mahmoud,

Thanks for your answer, in my case I need a firmware only solution please. I am using 2 component TPS51604 in a full bridge architecture.

Hello,

Is that possible in your power sequence, the 5V supply comes first? or the 5V is a step down from the power stage supply?

Hello,

The VDD 5V is a step down from the main power supply (Vin) that comes to the Mosfet bridge.

Hello, because VIN came first, the SW is floating. The highlighted comparator put 0 on the highlighted and gate and the DRVL stuck at 0. The boot capacitor can not charge. We recommend pull down 12K resistor from SW to GND. This provides path for the boot capacitor to charge.

Mr Harmouch, thank you for the explanation, I understand. Maybe this issue needs a detailed warning on the datasheet...

I'm sorry to ask again, but is there another way, even an exotic one, to solve the problem without modifying the hardware?

Hello,

if the highlighted comparator put 0 on the and gate, the DRVL stays low and the boot capacitor can not be charged. Any input logic state does not the help to change the DRVL from low to high.
