TPS1H000-Q1: Inrush current limit

Part Number: TPS1H000-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi, I have a doubt regarding inrush current limit of the IC.

we have set a current limit of 150mA typical for our application. It is mentioned that the fast-trip response time is less than 1 µs. Suppose during startup if the inrush current limit reaches 200mA, will the switch be turned off? Please clarify.

  • Hi Jesica,

The switch is not expected to turn off. As long as the thermal threshold is not exceeded, the device should remain operational and only clamp the current.

For clarification, the fast-trip protection is only used during hard short-to-GND conditions to turn off the output before a current-limit closed loop is made -- this would not apply to startup.

    BR,
