TPS25763Q1EVM: USB 3.x device enumerating as USB 2.0. How do I configure the GUI correctly?

Part Number: TPS25763Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25763-Q1, TUSB564-Q1, TUSB1064-Q1

Tool/software:

I'm currently using the TPS25763-Q1 EVM to test our proposed design. We need USB C PD up to 27W and also act as a DFP. The application is a USB C powered camera.

Currently the PD negotiation is working just fine using the GUI, but I cannot get the camera to enumerate as a USB 3.0 device.

Setup

J30 - connected to a 13MP camera

J29 - connected to MCU

I have verified my cabling by connecting the camera to the MCU directly and it will enumerate as a USB 3 device. Once I put the EVM in place, it will only enumerate as a USB 2.0 device. Am I understanding the capability of this board correctly?

  • Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately the EVM can only support USB2 at the moment.  The system is designed to support USB3, but this is something we are also debugging on our end.  We believe there is a trace length mismatch but have not been able to confirm the root cause.

  • Understood, thanks for the info. Just to confirm, the design behind the EVM is capable of what I'm trying to do correct? I can design a USB C port for 27W, and use it as a DFP at USB 3.x speeds? Right now the EVM is just problematic?

  • Daniel,

Correct. TPS25763-Q1 + TUSB1064-Q1 (or TUSB564-Q1) will enable the port to output up to 60W (can be configured to 27W) with DP alt mode and USB 3.x capability.  The port will act as DFP by default since it is the power source.

    Regards,
    Eric
