TPS25762-Q1: TPS25762-Q1 as USB-PC + PPS without any programming or configuration

Part Number: TPS25762-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25762DQ1EVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I want to use TPS25762-Q1 as a charger for USB-PD + PPS but I do not want ANY configuration or programming.

I mean just solder it on the board and it should work automatically. I am fine with default values if the end result supports PPS.

please check and advise.

thanks

  • Hello Hossam,

As mentioned on this thread, the TPS25762-Q1 supports USB PD + PPS without any additional programing.

If the TPS25762-Q1 boots without an EEPROM, then the default application configuration will be loaded, which includes PPS. More information is provided in the datasheet. Please see Section 8.3.2 to learn about this device's TVSP pin and the information on page 37.

For example, if the R_TVSP is open, then the port max PDP will be set to 60W (see Table 8-6). And as Table 8-7 shows, the SourceCap will include both fixed PDOs and PPS.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hello,

so if i connected it like datasheet\ref design without eeprom will it work with either regular fixed usb-pd (5, 9, 12, 15, etc...) and PPS according to what sink requires and communicates? assuming R on tvsp is open and connecting the recommended damper + 0.1u tvsp cap.

    please confirm this.

if you have a simplified schematic I can use please link it.

I searched for the part and found this part number: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/TPS25762CAQRQLRQ1/22106870

please check and advise if this one is correct and what is the difference between each part number of this same device?

    thanks

  • Hello Hossam,

    Yes, your understanding is correct.

There is a schematic you can refer to in Section 4 of the TPS25762DQ1EVM User's Guide here.

The part you linked is the TPS25762CAQRQLRQ1. This variant will not work without an EEPROM. The OPN of the variant you want is the TPS25762DQRQLRQ1.

The -C and -CA versions are the previous gen. The -CA version was released after the -C to support cold crank, or Astable VIN Boot, which you can read about it here. The -D version is the latest gen device which supports EEPROM-less operation as well as Astable VIN Boot.

    Hope this helps,

    Seong
