BQ40Z50-R2: SOH accuracy. Cont.

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50

Tool/software:

Hello Jose:

Thank for your reply about the previous thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1514181/bq40z50-r2-soh-accuracy

Several questions:

1. Extend rest periods to 4–6 hours after charging and 8–12 hours after discharging for accurate voltage relaxation.

{Chen} Yes we can try this

2. Perform occasional full charge-discharge cycles (e.g., every 10–20 cycles) to improve impedance and capacity updates.

{Chen} We already did this. The SOH was recorded after calibration cycle.

3. Adjust “SOH Load” to ~2.5–3 hours to reflect partial discharge (30%–80% SOC).

{Chen} This is not consistent with the description of the technical reference. The "SOH Load Rate" can be set to the typical current of the application. So if we changed the "SOH load" to 2.5 hours, that means the current is doubled from SOH load = 5 hrs? Even with 30-80% SOC, the typical current should be the same right? Please confirm this.

4. Verify and adjust “Design Capacity” to match expected capacity listed in Cell manufacturer DS. Update the BQ40Z50-R2 firmware to the latest version to address potential fixes that might taken in place regards to SOH calculations.

{Chen} We already did this. The latest BQ40Z50-R2 is 2.11 right? I didn't see any description about SOH in the "change list" though.

Thank you!

Chen
