TPS6594-Q1: PMIC power up failure

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM, SK-TDA4VM

Tool/software:

Hi TPS6594  series  champ  for TDA4VM !

My customer built a circuit almost identical to the SK-TDA4VM board.

However, when the main power is applied, even though VCC-3.3V is supplied to the PMIC, except for some LDOs, the buck-boost DCDC converters do not output at all.

We removed the PMIC (TPS65941111/TPS65941213) from the SK-TDA4VM board and installed it on a newly assembled custom board, but the result was the same.

The nPWRON/ENABLE signal goes high, but it does not function normally. If the PMIC does not start, should I first check the capacitors on the PMIC input side or the output side?

Please advise on how to debug this.

Attached their PMIC part of the schematic.

Thanks.

  • Hi Jack,

Have you checked your connections based on https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvuc99a/slvuc99a.pdf user's guide for TPS65941213-Q1 and TPS65941111-Q1?

I looked schematics and for example I'm not seeing VSYS_IO_3V3 is generated. PMIC-A will not complete power sequence is this monitored voltage is not rising.

Would also suggest to gather any scope shots from start-up event to identify at which point we are seeing issue. Also reading any interrupts will be helpful.
