TPS1HTC100-Q1: Power management forum

Part Number: TPS1HTC100-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS1HTC30-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer asks question about IOVCR value of TPS1HTC30-Q1 as well as TPS1HTC100-Q1.

I found following comment in the e2e thread "TPS1HTC100-Q1: response time of current limit" , It says:

"The value for IOVCR is about 3x the configured current limit for the application. "

Question : Will it be also true for TPS1HTC30-Q1?

Best regards,

  • Fujihara-san,

We have done some more investigation and will update this in the datasheet, but it depends on the current limit value that you set. The current limit configured is for when VDS=1V, however during the initial short circuit condition the value will vary. For TPS1HTC100-Q1, for 50kOhm it will be 2.6x, for 10kOhm it will be 1.2x, and for GND it will be 1.2x.

I will follow-up with the updated datasheet draft online next week (many people are out for the national holiday).

    Best Regards,
    Tim

  • Hi Tim-san,

    Thank you for the answer.

I will wait for the draft update of TPS1HTC100-Q1 and TPS1HTC30-Q1 datasheet.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Fujihara-san,

We are trying to work through some logistical issues with updating the datasheet so we currently do not have a draft version to share. However, I do want to clarify a few things here. The IOVCR value is different from the ICL_ENPS which is what Tim was discussing.

The IOVCR value is an internal limit set for when the current limit loop has not asserted yet. The ICL_ENPS parameter characterizes the current limit that the device is actually clamping at versus what it is set to because it can initially exceed the externally set limit in capacitive charging or short to ground cases.

IOVCR is higher for the TPS1HTC30-Q1 than the TPS1HTC100-Q1.

    Let's discuss more through email.

    Thanks,

    Rishika Patel
