BQ25723: The BQ25723 charge issue

Part Number: BQ25723

Tool/software:

Hi,

We use the BQ25723 and there is an issue of output oscillation and excessive power supply current loss, resulting in abnormal overcurrent and power failure of the entire machine;

The spec. is input voltage 14VDC, the output voltage is 9.3VDC to 12.6VDC;

The waveform please refer to below:

1. When the system is turned on and in the SHELL interface, the output waveform is displayed. The image on the right shows the AC coupling after unfolding:

2. System startup in SHELL interface state, CH1: inductor phase, CH2: Vout:

3. Shutdown state applies dynamic load to Vout, with current ranging from 0A to 6A, slope of 2.5A/us, and frequency of 1000Hz. CH1: inductor phase, CH2: Vout:

4. Shutdown state applies dynamic load to Vout, with current ranging from 6A to 12A, slope of 2.5A/us, and frequency of 1000Hz. CH1: inductor phase, CH2: Vout:

  • Hi, Liang,

    It looks the current sense is to low. The RAC is 2mohm, only 12mV @6A input. You could use at least 5mohm for RAC and RSR.

    Let me know if this fixes the issue.

    You can also order a BQ25723EVM, thus rule out any layout related noise-issues.

    Regards,

    Tiger
