USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01: Unable to connect to compute via USB-C and flash with GUI

Part Number: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01

Tool/software:

HI,

I have a USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 which doesnt want to connect over the USB-C port  so I presume this board doesnt support flashing with the USB-C port. Unfortunately I dont have an Aardvark Connector on hand to use, is there an alternative way to flash without it? The datasheet mentions something about I2C programming via J5 but Im not quite sure how to link that up with my PC.

Appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Muhammad

  • Hi Muhammad,

Correct, the board does not support flashing over the type-C port

Potentially, but you will still need some 3rd party tool.

Using the GUI, you can generate the full flash binary that is loaded to the I2C EEPROM.

The CHG-EVM exposes the I2C EEPROM I2C lines, and you will need to find some way to Flash the binary to the EEPROM. We use and recommend the Aardvark, but any third party device that supports the EEPROM on the board should work.

You may also be able to write to the EEPROM directly over I2C, but I'm not sure what that would entail.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
