Hello,

I have a BQ27411EVM and an EV2400. I installed the Battery Management Studio Version 1.3.101.

Here's my question, when I start the Studio it finds the BQ27411EVM and things look ok for a few seconds,

then I see the message "Not able to find a free communications adapter" and it no longer allows me to

access the EVM.

If anyone has an idea as to why I would really appreciate it.

Hello Dan,

It appears that you are facing a hardware issue, please follow the User guide attached below, the most common errors are not connecting the EV2400 on the I2C port (for this gauge) and/or not having a battery pack connected to J1. You can also attach a small load, like a resistor, to constantly have your gauge waken.

Hi Alan, thank you for the response. I actually got the BQ27411EVM going by switching to a different USB port.

So, now the question is how do I configure/initialize the BQ27411 to give me meaningful information?

My battery is full charged and I expect to have to enter the maH capacity somehow, but I can't seem to figure that out.

Once I do that will all the registers update automatically as the battery is discharged and tell me the charge level??

I recommend looking at the EVM user guide to better setup your gauge to get a more accurate SOC.
