Tool/software:
What is the behavior of TPS2117 operating in priority mode (IN1 tied to MODE) when IN2 is 5 V and IN1 is:
1) floating (such as when the main power cable is not connected)
2) driven to between 0.35 V and 1.0 V (such as when a drained battery is inserted)?
The two concerns in both cases are:
a) whether the device correctly powers *only* from IN2 and routes it to Vout
b) whether power consumption increases because of the indeterminate input to MODE.
The functional block diagram for the device does not show internal smart pull-down that would aid in resolving the floating input case, let alone how the device would handle the MODE pin being actively driven to between 0.35 V and 1.0 V. The MODE pin being driven to "< 1.6 V" is clear, as long as it is also >= 1.0 V or <= 0.35 V.
Thank you for shedding some light on this. Best regards,
Marko
