LM25180: Technical Support required for design and calculation for DC-DC Converte

Part Number: LM25180

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

I'm Using LM25180 DC-DC converter (PSR) for below output.

Output 1= +46V and 5mA
Output 2= +14V and 100mA
Output 3= -14V and 10mA
Output 4= -46V and 5mA

All the output have the same ground, please see the transformer design in attached Excel.

So the question is...

1) Is this IC is capable to generate multiple output more than 2?
2) Is IC capable to generate the output like +/- 46V
3) Please see the attached design calculation which I have prepared for above design, if there is any mistake please guide.
4) Is this IC capable to generate the two output with isolation from primary and secondary each other?

Please suggest an IC for above output with 8V to 36V input Voltage.

  • Suresh,

I will be back to you tomorrow.

    Thank you

  • Suresh,

    Please see my feedback below:

    1) Is this IC is capable to generate multiple output more than 2?

[MA]: Yes, LM25180 is a PSR (Primary Side Regulation) Flyback that regulates the voltage at the primary winding which then is reflected at the output side. I checked your calculation in the spreadsheet and your turns ratio values are good for the output voltages required.

    2) Is IC capable to generate the output like +/- 46V

[MA]: Yes. You can generate negative voltage by referencing your secondary side ground as shown in the schematic below.

    3) Please see the attached design calculation which I have prepared for above design, if there is any mistake please guide.

[MA]: I reviewed all your calculations and all of them look good. Good job

    4) Is this IC capable to generate the two output with isolation from primary and secondary each other?

[MA]: Yes, you can generate two or more isolated output voltages with different ground references.

    Thank you
