I’m using the LM74900 in one of our designs and wanted to check if you recommend any specific resistor values for the Gate (Rg) and Gate-to-Source (Rgs) terminals of the RVP and BCO FETs.

And with this circuitry, is there a need for additional external reverse battery protection, or is the RVP section of the LM74900 sufficient to handle this protection on its own?

Hi Sushma,

LM74900 is sufficient to do the RVP.

Rg of 5-10ohms is okay to prevent oscillations.

Rgs is not required.

HI Shiven,

One more query — what will be the behavior of the gate pin when there is a reverse voltage from C to A? Will the gate pin is actively pulled low?

Hi Sushma,

If V(A) < V(C), DGATE will get shorted to ANODE.
