LM7310: Thermal Test with EVM request

Hi expert,

Customer is considering use LM7310 to replace the Schottky, due to the lack of EVM at our side, could you help use the EVM at your side to do a thermal test and share the result? Condition as below:

12V input, 5A continuous Iout, time 5~10min till the temperature does not increase any more.

Please help use the EVM at your side for above test, and if there's existing data please also help share. Many thanks!

  • Hi Joyce,

    Can you tell what are their concerns here. During steady state, the device will have power dissipation of I^2*R = 25*45mOhms (worst case ron) = 1.125W (typical calculation will be around half of that).

    Using Rja, we can calculate the temperature to be 41.7*1.125 + T_ambient = ~72C. In typical case the junction temperature will be ~48C.
