LM62460: Schematic review for a LM62460

Part Number: LM62460

Tool/software:

Hello

I am in need of a buck converter 24V to 5V. Can you please do a schematic review on the submitted document. It is only one page.

Thank youLM62460.pdf

  • Hi Mirza,

Can you give some information about you application so I can confirm if the schematic is correct?

VIN range, VOUT, load, switching frequency, mode of operation,  etc.

    Thanks,

    Dino

  • Hello,

    I am sorry for that.

My input can go as low as 16V and as high as 35V. But these are only short-term transients. The nominal input voltage is 24V. I am looking for a 0.4MHz switching working in PFM mode. The required output voltage is 5V 5A continous driving an ohmic load.

The RESET pin (Pin #10) should work as power good. I have it through 100k pullup (R69). In LTSpice i made a simulation for RESETn. I approximate Open Drain as BSS84. Is that ok? Should that work?

I model the SVIN to be output voltage of LM62460. The ODS is "RESET output with filter and delayed release" as per datasheet. The Q1, R1 and C1 is the driving circuit. and STRTn is output signal that i require. please see the attached pictures and confirm the functionality.

    thank you

  • Hi Mirza,

Schematic looks mostly good, just one comment:

-R71 should be close to a 17.4k per the equation in the datasheet

In regards the the circuit posted, believe it looks fine.

    Thanks,

    Dino

  • Hi

Thank you very much. I will update the R71.

Can you comment on the simulation setup for RESETn pin. Is it ok to simulate RESETn as generic Open Drain or is there more to it?

    Mirza

  • HI Mirza,

It should be fine to just model as an open drain, if you want to make it more "accurate" you can model the on resistance of the FET as well, can see values for this in section 7.5 in the datasheet.

    Thanks,

    Dino

  • Thank you ... this answered all my questions
