BQ28Z610: In custom board, after reloading firmware, no communication

Tool/software:

I have been having trouble with this device because the BQ28 was reporting XCHG and XDSG high, while no other register was reporting any fault of any kind.

In the past I could reset it by reloading new firmware, but this time, in the custom board, the device is no longer operational.

No matter what I do, either with the MCU, a digital probe, the EV2400, I can't connect to the device.

When trying to connect with the EV2400 and BQStudio, It says:
Auto Detected Device: 0_0_0

Hi Victor,

I believe you are either using the wrong communication port on your EV2400 or your device is in ROM mode.

I don't even know how exactly the issue was fixed, but I did this:
1. Connected the BQ28 to the EV2400.
2. Found device 17171717 or something like that
3. Opened it as BQ28z610-R1
4. Tried to write a 0x08 to 0x16, but wouldn't allow me to send nothing from Advanced Comm I2C.
5. Tried doing a read, and it returned just 17171717...
6. Decided to see if it flashed from Programming.
7. Programming worked (tick appeared)
8. BQ28z610 is working again. ???
