Colleagues, what is the best solution for the wide input range power supply with the spec: Vin AC 12-240 V Iout=1 A P=5W
Dmitry,
You will need to provide a lot more information before anyone could provide you with the "best" solution.
1) It's an AC input. Does the input voltage need isolation or would a non-isolated solution function properly?
2) Why such a massive range in input voltage? A 20:1 input range is absolutely massive.
3) Since you list a current and power, one would assume this is a constant current supply, is that correct?
4) Does this need to meet specific package / form-factor requirements?
5) What are the relavtive priorities of size, cost and efficiency?
Peter, I am checking the answers with my customer. As soon as I get more details, I will reply.
Peter,
let me give you answers to your questions:
1)-2) The customer actually needs 2 input ranges: 10…36 AC/DC and 90…240 AC. This could be organized as two ranges @ one input or 2 separate inputs. The 90..240 AC should be isolated.
2) Massive range needed to cover all possible input voltages of the customer's end device
3) There should be a constant current supply
4) no specific requirements for mechanics
5) the priorities for the design are: (1) cost; (2) efficiency; (3-lowest) size
I know it's an older thread but was this ever resolved?
I have a similar requirements and I'm guessing it's for the same industrial sector, the input range as above would make me VERY HAPPY but I would settle for just the lower AC input range of 30-50Vac.
