I have downloaded the file from that page. It is called "sluc598" whith no extension, but the firmware updater in bqStudio expects a *.senc or a *.srec file. Coud you please give an advise how to solve this little problem? I think the solution is very simple, but unfortunately I can`t get it.

That is a zip file. You can add the .zip extension and open it.

Thomas, it is exactly as you`ve written - after adding the .zip extension all other steps passed smoothly.

I`ve successfully updated the firmare. But now I have such a problem: there appeared some new registers in the bqStudio (I noticed it while looking through Data Memory - Settings - Balancing Configuration).

Before the firmware update there were such bits in this register:
RSVD[7] RSVD[6] RSVD[5] RSVD[4] RSVD[3] CBR[2] CBM[1] CB[0]
These bits were the same as written in the Technical Reference (downloaded from the web site).

After the update the bits became:
RSVD[7] RSVD[6] RSVD[5] CB_RLX_DOD0EW[4] CB_CHG_DOD0EW[3] CBR[2] RSVD_1[1] CB[0]

I don`t completely understand the new register contents and where can I find the actual information about this.
I`m using the latest bqStudio (1.3.45) and referring to the lates technical reference (revised in august 2015).

The CB_xx_DOD0EW options were added to allow us to change the way the cell balancing DOD points are set. You should leave these set to zero by default. If you are enabling cell balancing at rest, then set the register to 07, otherwise set it it 03.
