1. Need to design bq24650 for 10A charge current.
Input is solar panel connected.
2. Looking at schemtic of evm I am making following changes:
Lo = 3.3uH
Co = 40uF
Sense = 10mohm
Mosfets: 2 in parallel
3. is there anything else to change? I have connected two mosfet in parallel due to high current.
1. EVM states that by changing only Rsense current can be increased. Since I need 10A current, so I have make Rsense = 4millohm.
Attached is schematic for same. I have removed Vsys, since i don't need that. Only charger output is required at output.
2. Below changes are made for 10A design:
Two diodes are made in parallel in input.(PDS1040)
Rsense = 4milliohm.
Two mosfet are added in parallel. (Q1 & Q2).
3. Is there anything else to be done?
I would recommend the designer to go through the bq24650 datasheet first for the fundamental operation principle and requirements of the charger. The datasheet provides a lot of useful information and answers to your specific design.
- Please refer to the datasheet page 17 and use the recommended value of inductor and output capacitor.
- The input capacitor needs to be designed based on page 21.
- The battery NTC resistor in parallel to R12 is missing or you need put a 10k in parallel with R12.
- There is no MPPSET pin bias setting on the schematic – you need to set the MPPSET with resistor divider.
- You can add a place holder for a Schottky diode close to bq24650 from GND to PH to improve switching performance.
