Dears,

I have charger application question, need your help!

I plan to use bq24617 for 3 cell Li-lion battery charge; adapter in =19V, System Voltage spec=12V

since my system need 12V, so I add DC/DC POL after 19V out (19V to 12.6V), then re-connect Battery power path to POL output side.

I attached the circuit that I modify for you reference, please have your recommend on this circuit, is can work normal?

If it can work normal, what I need to noted when circuit design?

Hi Simon,

This can work, but mind that a fully depleted 3S configuration will have 9V. Your battery range will be 12.6V to 9V.

As for modifying the circuit:
1. ACSET resistors for input current limit based on your source's output power
2. ISET1 resistors for charging current based on your battery spec
3. ISET2 resistors for pre-charge and charge termination, usually 10% of charging current
4. VFB resistors based on battery configuration (3S or 4S)
5. TTC cap for charging safety timer
6. Inductor based on charging current
7. Output caps based on charging current
8. TS pin resistors if using thermistor or not
