UCC28060: use ZCD and VCC at unite line.

Part Number: UCC28060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28063A, UCC28063, PMP10116, TPS92314

Hi,

I'm beginner for PFC controller, and have simple question.

1. As for the below attached TI's application note, VCC is from R2, R7, R8 of HV node.

So I'm concerned about not only the standby current but also the heating of R2, R7, R8.

Is it possible to change the schematic that supply VCC to R2,R7,R8 at first start operation, and after then short the R2,R7,R8 and supply VCC from TRANS sub line?

2. Is the below TI's application note is the newest version? if not, where can I download the newest schematic?

UCC28060.pdf

thanks,

TS

    Hello TS

The UCC28060 is an older part and has replaced by the UCC28063 or the UCC28063A in most applications.

The attached schematic shows how to power VCC from the transformer auxiliary winding.

You can find this schematic as part of the PMP10116 reference design for the UCC28063A at this location.

    Regards,

    John

  • Hi John,
    thanks for your kind answer.

I cannot find any application note for UCC28063 or UCC28063A at TI webpage.
can you share some for me?

    thanks,

    Hi TS,

If you go to this page:

    www.ti.com/product/UCC28063A/toolsoftware

you will find the reference design I mentioned.

The reference design (PMP10116) contains a schematic, bill of materials, test data, CAD files and an application note.

When I check the application note (SLUA625) I discover that  it references the UCC28060.

This is the same application note in your original question.

TI does have another design note relating to THD ,power factor correction and the flyback converter.

Please check out SNVA685. This application note refers to the TPS92314 controller.

    Document attached.

    Regards,

    John
