UCC28720: 7.5W design referring UCC28720EVM-212

Part Number: UCC28720

Customer wants to design a 5V 7.5W application referring the EVM.

Is it enough change that only current sense resistance is changed from 2.15 ohm to 1.56 ohm, using the same transformer with Lp=1.5 mH and turns ratio of 15.42:1?

Is the switching frequency automatically adjusted by the internal CC regulation?

Do CV and CC output control get any problems?

  • It is likely that you will need to change the transformer inductance and/or saturation current to handle the higher power. I'm not exactly sure how close the EVM is running to the maximum output power point, but it is likely that it's designed to output 5W at the maximum peak current, frequency and duty cycle at minimum bulk voltage.

You could try it but keep an eye on the Current sense voltage to see if the transformer is saturating.
