Best replacement for CM680x Champion devices

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28180, UCC28051, UCC29950, UCC28511, UCC28510

the customer uses Champion CM680x devices. They didnot specify which versionof CM680x ( CM6800/2/3/5/6) All these are PFC/PWM controller combos.

The datasheets are attached to this thread - please help propose the best possible option that we have ? would UCC28180 be an option?

  • Hi Ranita,

I have asked the high power controllers team to look into this cross request. You should hear back within a day if not sooner.

  • Hi Ranita,

Best options for the CM680x devices are below with comments and none are drop in replacements and there are notable package pin count/function differences.

UCC28180 is not a combo device so I assume based on the CM680x PNs a combo is of interest/requested. If a combo were not of interest then the UCC28180 can be paired with an isolated DC-DC controller and it would be helpful to know what isolated DC-DC topology is of interest. To confirm the UCC28180 CC PFC versus a UCC28051 TM PFC, it would also be helpful to know the target power level.

Another comment is if the customer is need of a LLC controller then there is the UCC29950 combo controller available now as a recommendation.

For the CM6800, recommend the UCC28511
    CM6802 recommend the UCC28510
    CM6803 recommend the UCC28510 but the CM6803 PN is a 8-pin package
    CM6805 recommend the UCC28511 but the CM6805 PN is a 8-pin package

These PNs are part of a family and key differences are the UVLO thresholds so while the recommendations above point to one PN some allowance on actual supply voltages may steer to another related family PN.
