TPS54335A: Could you tell me about "Using TPS54335A's Flyback circuit"?

Part Number: TPS54335A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5160A, , TPS54308

Hi, team.

My customers are looking for devices under the following specifications,

I have proposed at LM5160A and TI-design (www.tij.co.jp/.../PMP10532

<Specification>

Input:DC 23 to 25.5 V

Output:DC 5.25 V ± 5% (DC 5 V to 5.5 V) / 500 mA @ max

APLI:INVERTER
DEM:10 k / Month
Mass Pro Target:about 2020 year

However, the customer need packages with feet, and we fight with the six competitor companies,

and since we are proposing devices with ROHM of about $1.0,

we are trying to proposal with TPS54335A by Flyback.

So question.

① Can I use Flyback circuit with TPS54335A?

② In case of "Yes", can you create a circuit diagram that meets the above specifications?

(At first, It's OK even from simple circuit diagram)

Could help me?

Best regards,

Masumi Sekiguchi

  • Can you give me a response on this matter?

For ②, there are somewhat difficult elements, but first I want urgently to answer about ①.
  • Hi

Do you need isolation for this conversion? TPS54335 is better for non-isolated buck conversion or inverted buck/boost.
  • Hi-Andy Chen san.

    >Do you need isolation for this conversion? TPS54335 is better for non-isolated buck conversion or inverted buck/boost.
     Yes.
     Isolation is necessary.

I know that LM5160A is more suitable flyback converter.
But based on the price situation of the competitor and Points of use experience by customer by TPS54335A considered it to be better.
In addition, the package shape is looking with feet pin.

Therefore, if there is a way to propose TPS54335A with flyback, it seems that we will be able to earn Design-In.

    Could you help me?

  • Hi,

This is a special design to use TPS54335 for isolated flyback conversion, let me check it with Application team and update you after holiday.

  • How about the situation on this matter?
    I'm waiting for your contact.
    Best regards,

  • Hi

Flybuck conversion require FCCM operation, We suggest to use TPS54308 instead of TPS54335A, below is the reference design.
