TPS54620: TPS54620 Schematic Revision for Powering Xilinx MPSOC and AM5728 Self Designed SoMs for industrial computing

Part Number: TPS54620
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728,

Dear all

We´re designing an entire product portfolio for industrial cloud computing

Im designing a carrier board and some SoMs with AM5728 and Xilimx MPSOC

Someone can check this attached schematic?

King Regards

  • Generally, we can make a cursory review.  If you would like a detailed review, please provide your design inputs and considerations as well as the methodology you used to derive the external component values.

  • Power_hd.pdfDear Sir

Attached you can find high resolution schematic, im sorry for bad quality of previous

    Thank you so much

I prefer to proceed as follows:

Take a view on the schematic and tell me that all seems to be correct to simpy work

After assemling the board i will perform start up and response testings

I designed following reference and evk

If it works ok, i will start trying to optimze design by performing some adjustments and measurements

  • Ignacio,

I used WEBENCH on the TPS54620 product page (right-hand side) and put in 12.1VIN, 5VOUT and 3.3VOUT, 6AOUT and got a schematic very similar to yours.  The only more-than-slight difference is the compensation but that can be modified as you test.

  • I took a look at your schematics as well.  Generally I like to use a HF roll off capacitor on the COMP pin to GND in parallel with the R and C.  Make it be 1/100 of the series capacitor.

Typically, you will not have the same compensation for 3.3 V and 5 V outputs.  It is entirely possible you can find a set of values that works for both outputs.

I see your note to increase BW above 118 kHz and PM to 57 deg.  You are not likely to achieve both of those.  Typically I find TPS54620 max crossover is less than 100 kHz.If you want to extend the BW, you may want to consider adding a feed forward capacitor in parallel with the top FB divider resistor.  For now it can just be a place holder.  I make Fz = 1/2*pi*Rtop*Cff to be just above the crossover frequency.

If you think you want to tweak the crossover design, I would also place a 0 ohm resistor in series between Vout and the top FB resistor as aa convenient place to break the loop for test purposes.

  • I will start with Webench Values (SPICE BASED, so GOOD), after that, if i have any problem, i will let you know !

Thank you so much, i learn a lot from your comments
