TPS61193: negative analog dimming mode proposal

Part Number: TPS61193

Hi Team,

Here have one question that need your help and suggestion if can use negtaive analog dimming mode soltuion in our our TPS61193.

When increasing the dimming voltage, the output current is reduced. Ra and Rb can be set according to the input analog voltage range.

Best regards,

  • Hello,

Theoretically it could work since TPS61193 is constantly monitoring RISET pin to determine output current.
But we cannot recommend this as the device wasn't design for this purpose and no validation/testing has been done for this scenario.
Another potential issue is that any noise in the DC Dimming voltage will greatly affect the output current. Since you would be working with fairly low voltage ~2.3V at RISET pin, any noise on the supply can have a big impact in current. Also current accuracy and resolution will be affected.

    Hope this helps.
