LM5176: What does Vin_startup means?

Dear Sir/Ms.

What's the min start up voltage of LM5176? 2V? My customer cant not design TPS55165 because he want to boot DC/DC circuit at min Vin 4V.

Which device do you refer to, the LM5176 or the TPS55165? These are two different parts.

Anyway, the min startup voltage is the minimum input voltage required for a successful startup. For the LM5176 it is 4.2V, and for the TPS55165 it is 5.3V. If the voltage is lower than that, the device may not guarantee to startup. Once the circuit already starts up, the input voltage can drop to lower.

So, for your customer, the TPS55165 (if you really meant it) can continue the normal operation if Vin drops to 4V after startup.

Hello Youhao,
My customer search for a Buck-boost DC/DC converter and must Vin 4V boot. LM5176 and TPS55165 can not be design. Do we have the solution?

hi
what is your input voltage range? you can add another boost to generate voltage higher than 4.2V to power the LM5176 VIN pin.

It's USB type-C application. Input range from 4.2V~21V.
