BQ33100: working with BQ33100

Part Number: BQ33100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

Hello,

We are planning to use BQ33100 with NXP microcontroller,

For flash Programming we are using BQ-studio and EVM2400.

As per my understanding from documentation, many protection features are handelled by IC itself, we just have to fill the dataflash values carefully according to our application.

In application program We  just have to read the extended SBS command registers for system status and control, as per fault pin status for checking fault status of IC .

is my understanding correct?

  • Hi Mandar,

The bq33100 is a flash based gauge and can communicate via SMBUS or I2C.

You are correct - the device operates by programming the dataflash values carefully for the application. The easiest way to develop with this gauge is by confuring the settings using an EV2300 or EV2400 with EVSW and the bq33100 EVM.

Once programmed, in the application the extended SBS command registers may be read for system status and control as well as fault pin status for checking fault status of the IC.

    Sincerely,

  • Hello Bryan, One additional help!
is it possible to perform Block read operation in BQ33100.
If I want to read Capacitor cell voltages form 0x3b to 0x3f?
    Can I perform Block read?
Is address auto increment done in BQ33100?
  • Hi Mandar,
