TPS61196: FET getting hot / weird switching behaviour

Part Number: TPS61196

Dear Team,

our customer uses the TPS61196 for some years without problem. For a new panel they wanted to change the FET and face a problem that the FET is getting to hot.

The customer found out that the TPS does not switch correctly in combination with a new FET that has a higher Gate-Source Charge, see a screenshot below:

I asked the customer to reduce the gate driver resistor and/or add a diode in series (what has been recommended in a different E2E post). However this did not help.

This is a bit puzzling. Is there anything else that has to be considered if we see this behaviour?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Best Regards
Martin
