LM2623: Boost regulator

Hi Phani,

Why the maximum input voltage is 9V? What's the input voltage range?
Please refer to figure 7 of LM2623 datasheet. This device cannot output 1A when input voltage is 1.6V.

Our requirement is as below:
Input Voltage: 1.6V to 8.4V (Lower limit:Two alkaline cells in series (at low voltage of 0.8V i.e 0.8V+0.8V=1.6V Upper Limit: Two lithium ion batteries in series 4.2V+4.2V=8.4V)
Output Voltage: 6V
Output Current: 1A
If LM2623 is not solution, please suggest alternate

Do you still need to keep output voltage to be 6V when input voltage is higher than 6V?

I mean do you need to use a buck-boost converter to keep output voltage to be exactly 6V or if you use a boost converter, when vin is higher than 6V, the output voltage will be vin-vd.
Which one do you want? a buck-boost converter or a boost converter?

We need only boost converter. In case, input exceeds above 6V, it should be passed out as it is.

So you hope the input battery can either be two alkaline batteries or two lithium batteries in series? The load current is 1A, which means that when the input voltage is around 2~3V, the input current will be 2~3A. The alkaline battery life cannot be long if using a normal alkaline battery with 2000maH capacity.
There is no boost converter device that can work for this application. Is there any other dc voltage rail that can be used for power supply of vin pin for boost controller?

Hi Phani,

Please take a look at TPS61175. Input voltage range is 2.9V-18V. Current limit is 3.8A(typ).

We are trying to configure our requirement using webench with below inputs.
Input: 3-18V Output: 6V DC Load current:1A. But it is not recommending the suggested TPS61175 for the inputs. Please suggest.

Hi Phani,

In the wenbench, input voltage should be less than 6V to complete the simulation. Vin higher than Vo is not recommended in Webench.
