I need to measure currents of up to 100A,but IPScale-ing not working. when current>32A,Whether the RemainingCapacity() is right?

    IPscale does not work properly in bq78350-R1. The recommendation has been to use manual scaling, see e2e.ti.com/.../524477 and e2e.ti.com/.../633364
    Also the bq78350-R2 firmware is available for download if you are interested, it has improvements to IPscale. See www.ti.com/.../bq78350-r2-device-fw

    Hi Jiang,
    To rephrase the answer: The value to represent current in the part is a signed 16 bit value.  If the magnitude of the value goes over 32767 it will look like the opposite signed number and can cause trouble.  To use the part at currents higher than 32A, use IPScale with the -R2 firmware or manual scaling to keep the current in the 32767 range.  Then the current and capacity calculations will be done correctly.

    Hi , I have update to bq78350-r2,but when battery discharge, The results of  CEDV  are different. There are two logs,discharging at the same temperature and the same current .The IPSCALE  = 1 and Learned Full Charge Capacity = 1600 In log of 7-1 .The IPSCALE  = 0 and Learned Full Charge Capacity = 16000 In log of 7-2.  Is there someting wrong ?

    Hi Jiang,
    Capacity also scales. See table 2 of www.ti.com/.../slua726 for examples of the effect of scaling. The parameters will need to be re-loaded and the pack re-calibrated after the firmware update. Gauging should not be changed from -R1 to -R2, see the release notes with the firmware installation

    1、 I am confused about the example: for a load current of 100 A (100000 mA) and IPSCALE = 0x01 then Current() and AverageCurrent() data will be 1000 in 2.2.4 of slua726。I think Current() will be 10000 when IPSCALE = 0x01, with the units of the reported value to 10 mA.

    2、You say the parameters will need to be re-loaded,which parameters?

    3、when settine IPSCALE = 0x01 ,the Current() is reduced by 10 times automatically.I think it is ok ,I can't understand the re-calibrated.

     When IPSCALE = 1,Gauging at EDV2 is wrong and RC is from 30% to 7%.I hope to disable  CEDV .How to close it?

    Hi Jiang,
    1. Yes, the example text has an error. See the table.
    2. Any parameters modified from typical will need to be re-loaded after the -R2 firmware update the parameters must be reset.
    3. If you had calibrated the board, when the -R2 firmware is loaded the calibration will be overwritten. If you sense resistor was a different value or off by 1% and you had it calibrated with -R1, when you load -R2 it will be back to 1 mOhm nominal.
    To disable CEDV clear the CMP_EDV bit in CEDV Gauging Configuration (CMP_EDV = 0). The gauge will then use fixed EDV for its calculations.

    1、My problem is not related to updating  to bq78350-r2.In my opinion,It is bacause of IPSCALE  = 1. In the formula  of EDV0,1,2 = n (EMF × FBL – |ILOAD| × R0 × FTZ), wheather ILOAD is correct when  IPSCALE  = 1.

    2、Battery Qmax = 16000mAh, when I set  IPSCALE  = 1,I  set  Learned Full Charge Capacity = 1600 and DOD at EDV2 = (1-7%)*16385.I want to know what is mean of 16385.

    The battery discharge at current = 20000 mA , Voltage - DOD is described in DOD.doc。CEDV  makes DOD jump form 0.3(volatge = 3.69) to 0.07(voltage = 3.043).Is there someting about voltage need to set ?DOD.docx

    Hi Jiang,
    When the gauge sees discharge to the EDV2 point it learns capacity and sets RSOC to 7% (Battery Low %). There can be a definite step when this occurs if the parameters are not set properly.
    Yes the gauge needs to be setup properly.
    If using fixed EDV (EDV_CMP = 0) you need to set the EDV2, EDV1, and EDV0 values from a discharge log.
    If using CEDV (EDV_CMP = 1) you need to have the CEDV parameters which were calculated by the GAUGEPARCAL tool from your 6 discharge cycles loaded.
